COOKING INSTRUcTIONS FOR FROZEN UKRAINIAN PRODUCTS
Cabbage Rolls
Grease roaster or casserole dish. Layer cabbage rolls in casserole dish. Add enough water to cover bottom layer of cabbage rolls. Add 1 tablespoon of margarine or oil per dozen cabbage rolls. (Optional: add butter sautéed onions and cover top with bacon) Bake at 350 degrees until they are fork tender. (Approx. 45- 60 minutes PER dozen cabbage rolls)
Nalysnyky (cheese crepes)
Thaw Nalysnyky. Grease casserole dish. Layer cheese crepes. Sprinkle dill on top. Pour heavy cream to almost cover the crepes. Bake in oven at 350 degrees until crepes fluff up (approx. 30 minutes).
RECIPE FOR CREAM DILL SAUCE
Bring heavy cream to a boil. Add either a teaspoon or tablespoon of flour or cornstarch, depending on the amount of cream, to thicken it up. Add green onion & dill. Add salt & pepper to taste.
Perogies
Bring salt water to a rapid boil. May add oil to water to prevent sticking. Drop Pyrogies into boiling water. Stir with wooden or plastic spoon. When water is rapidly boiling again turn down to med hi heat. Let Pyrogies float for approx.. 5 minutes. Drain & let steam off Pyrogies before adding butter. That will give them a nice shiny, glossy look and will prevent them from sticking together later.
Serving suggestions: Serve with sautéed butter & onions, bacon, and sour cream.
Pedishke
Thaw Pedishke. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Put Pedishke into casserole dish. Heat pedishke until fluffy and warm throughout approx. 15-20 minutes. When ready to serve, pour cream sauce over top.
